Please include details of the nominee's years of service in North Carolina as well as any published works, newspaper articles, and notable leadership within a department, organization, or business. It is also appropriate to detail community involvement and volunteerism, and to provide stories about the nominee, descriptions of his/her life perspectives, or other information that allows the Governor's Office to gain an understanding of his/her character.All nominations of current state employees must be submitted by a Human Resources Officer and include a statement of service. This information must be on official letterhead.All non-state employee nominations must include three (3) letters of recommendation. A statement of service from Human Resources is also required, if available. This information must be on official letterhead.Letters of Recommendation: recommenders can include any person who can speak to the nominee's service, work ethic, character, leadership skills, community involvement, volunteerism, etc. Anyone can be a recommender, including but not limited to: congressional leaders, former teachers, coworkers, community leaders, religious leaders, mentors, students, family friends, etc. Recommenders CANNOT be immediate family members.All supporting documentation must be collected by the requestor prior to submitting and ALL DOCUMENTS must be uploaded below. It is also appropriate to detail community involvement and volunteerism, and to provide stories about the nominee, descriptions of his/her sportsmanship, or other information that allows the Governor's Office to gain an understanding of his/her character. NOTE: Nominations for coaches should be submitted by an athletic director.All nominations must include a letter of recommendation from a coach or athletic director. NOTE: Student Excellence Award nominations must be submitted by a principal, teacher, counselor, school administrator, or community leader who is not a family member of the nominee.Please include details of the student's work in North Carolina as well as any published works, newspaper articles, and notable leadership within an organization, church or civic group, or business. It is also appropriate to detail community involvement and volunteerism, and to provide stories about the nominee, descriptions of his/her life perspectives, or other information that allows the Governor's Office to gain an understanding of his/her character.All nominations must include two (2) letters of recommendation. At least one recommender must be the nominee's school principal, teacher, counselor, or administrator.
